Exploring Split, Croatia

To get in or out of our apartment we have to go up and down these steps…...

 and through very narrow openings…..

Of course a lot of the streets are very narrow...

some extremely narrow, almost looking like dead ends

and some walls need propping up!

But then there are also some wide open squares…

with some interesting small stores…...
It did look as though it was wash day in the city……

even in the main Republic Square!
We generally check out the markets and today we found the fish market

We had found the food in the Paradigma restaurant excellent so we decided to find their other places..
Their Wine and Cheese bar, Paradox, sounded like a good idea for lunch….
It was tucked away off the tourist track behind the National Theatre and a little difficult to find but we felt we were getting close once we saw the funnel!

We can definitely highly recommend it…in fact we may well return….

There is quite a good choice of small tapa type plates…...

and absolutely excellent choices of local wines…...

Having found that the wine and cheese place didn't disappoint we decided to search for their cake shop, Creme de la Creme…… and did succumb….. also excellent!
