The road well travelled.....Provence to Switzerland....continued!

We are still trying to vary our route from Provence to Switzerland....... admittedly a little difficult!

However we have found some interesting stops en route.....

We tried going over a mountain road between the A48...  Valence to Grenoble and the A43  to Annecy/Geneva.

Here we found l'Olivier..........   and had a very good meal at a very reasonable price.

However it didn't have great ambiance!

We have also taken the Grenoble to Sisteron route stopping overnight in...
Au Sans Souci in Saint Paul les Monestiers....

We had a superb meal....

one of us had dessert.......

and the other just coffee................

and the room, while very dated .... had an extremely comfortable bed. And the cost was minimal!

...... and the view from our window was great!

and it was definitely attractive for families....

boules......

with a view......

and.......

Next we decided to do the reverse and take the Sisteron to Grenoble road
This route, either way, is  only really possible in summer...... lots of parking areas to install chains are a give-away!

It is a superb area, the Parc National de Vercors with lots of dramatic mountains!

We found La Magnanerie

 ....just south of Sisteron.......
The blackboard menu looked great..........

and was fantastic!
and yes we did finish with dessert......

 It has rooms.......

so we have noted that........ and will probably break our journey there in the future.  Just not in winter!!

However we did decide to return to Provence via our favorite... Pic.... in Valence...

Mykonos

We left Paros by boat.......

........actually we went by catamaran, only a 45 minute trip to Mykonos. A fast and extremely smooth journey...

On arrival in Mykonos we decided to rent a car as we were there for a few days and the hotel was not really within walking distance of the town. Not too far but........
The hotel, Bill and Coo, was fantastic!

The entry is discrete....

and the pool area nice to sit at to enjoy sunset....

Our bedroom had a view to the iconic windmills.......

We had asked for a quiet room and they absolutely gave us one with no noise!  We were right beside the exercise room.........but never heard anyone there!

The windmills, close up ....during the day.....

and at night...

The old town is fantastic!  Small narrow streets........ easy to get lost in!

brightly lit at night.....

and lots of churches......

We found a great bar to have a drink...

and experienced another fantastic sunset there.........

It would appear to be a good time to fish......

We can recommend this Fish Tavern, Kounelas

where we chose our fish  and then it was cooked on the BBQ..

and had the raki replaced by masticha at the end of the meal! We preferred the raki!!

We went by boat to Delos.....

which is superb......
