The drive from Habanara to Kandy took about 3 hours. Roads are full of traffic ( cars, buses, tuk tuks, bikes and people walking!) and it was only just over 60kms! We stopped at a spice farm on the way.....
..and saw what a nutmeg looks like initially......
and a Jack fruit on the tree......
Then on to the botanical garden......
This definitely still had a colonial feel!
But despite their wine cellar....they had no way of just pouring a glass of white wine!
It did have a great location however on the lake...which we heard had been man made!
The main reason for coming to this city was to visit the Temple of the Buddha Tooth..... we were not alone!
After our religious experience we felt in need of sustenance! So off to the old colonial Queens hotel for lunch... and a glass of white wine..... we actually bought a bottle so that we could take it back to our hotel....which had said there were delivery problems!!
