The Cultural Triangle, Sri Lanka

 Our first stop in the cultural triangle was Anuradhapura. This was a 3 hour drive from Negombo.

Next stop was to check out Polonnaruwa, the second antique kingdom.............

These are the ruins of what had been the 3 story Royal Palace....

Next cultural place to visit was the Dambulla Cave Temple.....

This involved walking up around 250 steep steps...in 30C humid weather!

It was definitely worth it! There are 5 cave temples with lots of Buddhas!

                         ... and a King!

.... and more than a few monkeys outside!

We then paused at Sigiriya...but decided not to climb! Too challenging!

This is possibly a very colorful green garden lizard!

Arriving back at our hotel,  the Cinnamon Lodge Habarana, there was a monkey family waiting on the doorstep! Very cute!!
