Wadi Rum...

Wadi Rum is a vast valley.... stretching to Saudi Arabia.... which is fairly close to Petra... about an hours drive.......and is a must if you are in the area.
It is actually a huge uninhabited area..... and one has to be driven around by a Bedouin. As there are no road signs one definitely needs a local who is familiar with the rock structures!!

Climbing onto this arch seemed to be a very popular thing to do.........

I spent 4 hours being driven around ... and obviously could have stayed longer.  However after four hours I had had enough of sandy bumpy roads!

the Wadi (valley) is famous because of Lawrence of Arabia

and we saw where supposedly he lived.....

It is possible to stay overnight there and I did explore staying in one of their Martian tents...but decided against it.... and didn't regret my decision.
