The Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world....... and now has been found to have huge lithium deposits!
Our hotel, Luna Salada, was built from salt blocks! Even the furniture....... and the floor was loose salt!
We were on the edge of the salt flats......
.....we went to a local area to see how they handled the salt.......
.........then on to check out the actual salt flats...........
The Stairs to Heaven sculpture was by Bolivian artist Gaston Ugalde... who had a lot of works in our La Paz hotel!
The locals decided to follow suit......... as it attracted tourists!
Then we drove further into the salt flats......for a picnic lunch!
...the view was magnificent!
.......we returned later to see the sunset!
We did need a little sustenance as we waited for the sun to actually go down!
