The Valle de las Animas was an interesting steady uphill trek.... not easy at around 4000m (13,000ft)!
A day trip to Lake Titicaca was definitely worth the long hours involved. It took around 4 hours by road! We had to cross a narrow part of the lake to get to the main part and Copacabana. This meant that we had to cross on a small boat and our small minibus was taken over on essentially a raft with a motor!
Copacabana is a pilgrimage town........ with a Basilica visited by pilgrims...
People decorate and bring their newly acquired cars for a blessing! Then on to our catamaran to go to the Inca island....... Isla del Sol.......
Views on the way to the island were great............
The Inca island was very interesting........
...first we had to climb the 200 plus old Inca steps.......quite arduous!
This took up us up to the island water source...... which has been there since Inca times.
.......and some Inca terraces.....
... lots of hummingbirds......
... and beautiful views......
..... we found there was a shaman waiting to perform a ceremony and bless us!
Then another day trip to a pre Incan archeological site..... Tiwanaka
