We had to fly back to Johannesburg ( again in a small plane!) in order to fly on to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia.
....... we were not spending too much time there! Just an overnight!
We were driving down to Sossusvlei.......to check out the enormous sand dunes there!
After a short distance on a paved road we had no choice but to take dirt roads! A little bumpy! The roads are rolled daily to keep them passable.
We were going through the Southern Africa Great Escarpment........
...finally another car!
After many hours of bumpy roads we needed a stop for lunch.....
......with wildlife on the doorstep! Lots of oryxes grazing very close by.....
After lunch it was another bumpy ride to the Sossusvlei Lodge....... our destination for the next few nights!
...all the rooms were in separate bungalows... with the odd oryx grazing outside!
The only wifi on site was in the bar...which quickly became the 'go to' place!
