Visiting Luxor is absolutely fabulous! Before going to Egypt I read the obligatory travel books.... but nothing prepared me for Luxor......
First stop was Karnak Temple.....entering through the first main entry from the Nile.... which was actually the last to be built.... because the Nile was receding....and it was left unfinished.....
....each Sphinx leading to the entry......
The interior of the unfinished entry pylon shows how they built using sand.... this is the original sand!
.... the entry courtyard has a huge statue of Ramses 11
The entry courtyard was just preparing one to enter the Hypostyle hall....... with its 134 columns!

On the other side of the entry pylon are 3 boathouses....the Pharaoh's was the largest......
With his favorite queen...... a little smaller!
.....apparently first evidence of clerestory windows....light source for the temple when it had a roof!
Ramses 11 was everywhere!
....however most evidence of Hatshepsut had been removed ....but not this fallen/broken obelisk.......
