Exploring Sydney........

Exploring the downtown area of Sydney is very easy! It is very walkable!
It has a variety of architecture........modern and vintage!

And has a British influence in parts!

The QVB as it is known  locally is decidedly impressive! Considering when it was built!
Interiorly it was celebrating the Chinese New Year.... the Year of the Rat.......
Otherwise very British.......time is of the essence......

...and it has great stained glass......
QVB was not the only covered shopping arcade of its era... there was also the Strand, built in 1891!
....and a few other buildings looking as though they would be at home in the UK!

The older historic area of The Rocks is also indeed charming! It was the area where the initial convicts from the UK (and also the Irish!) were deposited!! Fortunately its redevelopment in the early 1970s was voted down........

....the route back to the hotel took me by the (old) police station.......
