Temple Trekking in Cambodia…Bayon

We went on to the temple Bayon, which is in the Angkor Thom complex……..and it was fascinating!
Faces everywhere……. initially there were 50+ towers each with four faces!

here we could only see one face…..

then two faces….

then three faces……

then 4+faces……

and then of course there were the profiles……..

This one had one living profile!……..

We also checked out the wall with beautiful bas relief depicting life at that time…..in perfect condition!

 Exiting the complex we went out one of the original  'face' gates, over the causeway on the moat…

It was an incredible visit……. it must have been awesome in the 12th century.
