A day out from the walled city of Cartagena Colombia

We moved to a different hotel in Cartagena for the latter part of our time there. It was fantastic!

The Sofitel Santa Clara is an old convent with a cloister...... from the 15th century.

It's bar is famous as having been the local bar frequented by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. He had a home just around the corner and supposedly wrote Life in the Time of Cholera while living there.

Now the hotel has had the addition of new rooms and pool!  A little  larger and more luxurious than it's rooms in the 15/16th century! Can definitely recommend!

......a great place to have a drink!

Having spent quite a time within the walled city area we decided to spend a day on an island off the coast!

The Makani beach club  is on the Isla de Tierra Bomba which is just off the coast. This actually was a terrific idea! We were told where to go to be taken out by boat ....

..... it was a contrast to the narrow cobbled streets of Cartagena....  there were very few people there.

And they had a great massage and restaurant area....

It was a very relaxing day.

Taking a ride around Cartagena by horse drawn carriage was another great idea!

Cartagena also had an entry in the top 50 restaurants and we actually went to this one twice!
Celele........

Whimsical decoration......

...and great food....

Their mojitos weren't bad either........

The other restaurant we can recommend is Restaurante Donjuan
Great bar........

Great food.......

...and interesting lights.........
