A different type of Opera scene in Venice!

We decided to go to the Opera one night but this was very different.... in the old, somewhat decaying Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto with the scenes taking place in different rooms. As there were only around 50-60 persons there, it allowed one to be very close to the performers!

The Opera was Rigoletto ......... the dying scene was  moved to this bedroom..

The music was great, as were the singers and it was a unique experience for everyone......
And it was very interesting to see various rooms within one of those old palaces which line the Grand Canal.  The floor was a little uneven in parts! In fact, there seemed to be a definite tilt towards the Canal!
I would certainly recommend going to it to anyone coming to Venice!

Another Palazzo we visited was the Palazzo Grassi which is now a museum. It is no longer decaying as it had a multimillion overhaul some years ago!

An interesting exhibition!

We had lunch close to this museum in a typical Venetian Bacaro..

The food was very good and the ambience was excellent!!
We were surrounded by people all dressed up in fantastic costumes.......

Getting a helping hand to get back into the costume after lunch!

Ready to go!

And out on the street we saw lots of fantastic costumes......

The protocol seemed to be if you were in costume you posed for photos......

Lots of spectacular costumes.....
