The road well travelled...... Provence to Switzerlnd!

We have been trying to find good (food) stopover points on our journey from Provence...

First we tried ..... at Chambery....   the Chateau de Candie ....to be precise....

We thought the lunch we had there was fantastic, so next time we decided to stay overnight.  Mistake........

The room was fine... they upgraded us to a Tower room....... it was off season!

However the dinner menu was not to our taste........


Next time we thought ....  Annecy for lunch on the way down. We chose

Le Belvédère

 A little hectic getting there  before they closed their lunch time session..........

However the food was excellent and they do have rooms.  We will probably stay there sometime in the future........


However twice now we have been able to stop at Maison Pic in Valence...
The chef here is one of a small handful of female chefs in France and she has 3 Michelin stars!

Both times were very successful, albeit a little stressful getting to Valence from Provence in time this last visit!

This is a Relais and Chateaux place

with a very interesting entry to the expensive 3 Michelin star side.....

However we went to the less expensive side......

where the lunch menu is only 30 euros!

It is more casual.....

but has  great ambience!
And the food is superb!
