Having checked out the large tea plantations we decided to see how tea is actually made!
So we visited the Tata tea museum.
Tata seems to own the vast majority of the local tea estates. Interestingly it would seem that Tata used to just transport tea for the Finlays group but after Independence foreign companies could no longer be the major shareholder of an Indian company. Because of their existing relationship they decided to join with Tata. Tata did already own the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai but now they own everything! Cars, including Landrover, the Taj group of hotels etc etc.
We bypassed the one hour film and went to see the process...

The leaves are fed in one end and blown along. Then they are air dried.....
Then they are filtered.......
And stored....
And end up in the sales office!
We did end up buying quite a few different types of tea and will be trying out all of them!!
