Last stop in Sri Lanka, Colombo

Driving from Galle to Colombo was quicker than our drives on the prior days. There was a freeway!!We had decided to stop for lunch at the  Gallery Cafe which was located in the old offices of Geoffrey Bawa.

The place was amazing ......and the food was also excellent!!

Then on to where he had lived.......

We finally got to check in to our hotel the Galle Face... one of the oldest in Colombo...

Next day we checked out the old downtown area.......busy!!

We had to have crab for lunch!

The evening was less busy at our hotel! But did have bagpipes!

Exploring Galle, Sri Lanka

Galle is a very old city, first inhabited by the Portuguese, then by the Dutch. So lots of old charming buildings. Our hotel, the Grand Galle, had a fabulous location with a view of the fort city.

... on our doorstep was also a very old Hindu temple.....

... we walked  the short distance the first day into the town.....

However we  decided to take a tuk tuk in the second time.....safer!

We checked out the rest of the old city......

and checked out their giant old Banyan tree.........

Then it was time for a cocktail in the Amangalla hotel which used to be the Governors mansion......

Our  hotel  had an amazing location......
