Chobe National Park, Botswana

Our second safari was to find some elephants! Plus any other animals in Chobe National Park in Botswana!

Driving there on a very empty highway we saw our first elephant......blocking the road!

After entering the park we initially again saw lots of giraffes........

.....but we didn't have to wait too long before seeing our first herd of elephants! Marching to the river.....

Then suddenly to the left of our jeep a rather large elephant emerged from the bushes.....

......followed by the family!

The rather large elephant decided to check out the other safari jeep!

We were obviously beside one of their favorite mud holes!

They played there for quite a while, throwing mud all over their bodies.......

By now we  realized we were not going to miss seeing elephants....... there were hundreds of them to be seen!

We also saw a lion......

and a pride of lions......across the road from him! Looked as though they were resting after a large meal!

We deferred to this elephant... he obviously wanted to cross the road! He was enormous!

Initially we toured in a safari jeep...... then after lunch we took a boat on the Chobe river to check for other animals...

The river is obviously a transport highway!

.........again lots and lots of elephants!

...an elephant family group determined to get to the other side!

.......we saw the odd crocodile!

.......and a hippo or two!

and even a water buffalo!
