A room with a view ...of the Ponte Vecchio,Firenze

We decided to spend three weeks in Florence studying Italian.  This is to follow our one week of Italian last year in Sicily and we now hope that having it for three weeks in a row we should be able to converse a little better! And of course by now we have forgotten what we learned in Sicily...
We rented a fantastic apartment from Windows on Italy, their Ponte Vecchio apartment. We rented this particular apartment because it spoke of the fantastic view it has of the Ponte Vecchio. They were not wrong!
We arrived yesterday late afternoon and this was our first sight of the bridge from the apartment windows........

We absolutely could not have asked for a better view! We are right next door to the Hotel Lungarno owned by the Ferragamo family. In fact we look down on their little balcony.  Our rooms are not quite as luxurious but we share the same view! They have a Michelin star rated restaurant which we may try one night.
We chose a restaurant close by for our first night out... Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco
They specialize in wild boar........
The atmosphere there is casual and very friendly.

And as it is in an ancient tower the decor is nice...

With an angel keeping an eye on the place...
The food was good and there was a good choice of Tuscan wines. And grappa!
We can definitely recommend trying it!

We couldn't resist having a look at the Ponte Vecchio before going to sleep.....
And this morning we woke to the splashing of oars.....

By mid morning it was steadily raining ...... and as we had no WiFi we went to an Apple store to get a router in an absolutely huge shopping center I Gigli. Because of the rain it was quite crowded...... this Gelateria caught my eye!

And despite the rain we returned to still great views.....
And in case by now you think our only view is of the Ponte Vecchio we can look to another bridge
Or to the other side of the Arno....
