Checking out Krakov!

 I had intended visiting Warsaw and Krakov on my way back from Greenland.  However as our flights were delayed by 3 days I had to forego Warsaw and just go direct to Krakov. It is a very charming small city which was not bombed during the war and so retains a lot of its charming old buildings.

I decided to stay in a small boutique hotel with a Michelin restaurant.... the Hotel Indigo.... great choice!

It was a very short walk to the old town square.....

.... where I felt the need to have an apero while people watching!

Back at the hotel the tasting menu was excellent!

The restaurant also had an interesting take on breakfast.........

After breakfast it was out to see Krakow....a shortened visit so only a day to see as much as possible!

Back to the main square and then on to see lots of churches!

St Mary's Basilica.......

Church of Saints Peter and Paul.....

Dominican Church.......

Franciscan Church.....

There was not much left of the Jewish Ghetto....empty and sad!

The pharmacy which helped many is still there.....

The Schindler factory, made famous in the movie Schindlers List, and saved many lives of Krakow Jews was close by....

As the entry line was too long I went into the museum next door.....

...which had a very nice small restaurant......

I obviously couldn't miss going to Wawel Castle...... which was definitely on the tourist list of things to do!

The city was surprisingly green......lots of parks surrounding the old inner city......

And of course a river ran through it! The Vistula..... which had pedestrian bridge.....

Someone had a nice sense of humor!

I came across a very nice shopping center.......

And lots of sculpture........

And some wall art!
