A long weekend in Norwich..... UK

Norwich has been on my list of places to visit for quite some time.... however put off indefinitely during covid problems! Reason for going...visiting two grandsons studying in the area.

Getting to Norwich is very easy... one can take a flight from anywhere in Europe to Amsterdam and then a quick hop across the North Sea to Norwich... which has a very small airport.

We arrived late evening..........so our first sight of the charming city came next morning! Breakfast was at a very local coffee bar...... with a great view!
..with some nice art on the walls.....

Just up the road was an old bank building transformed into an upmarket restaurant!
Then on to the market.......

The Forum looked amazing!

We had wondered what these white blocks were to be used for when we visited one of the NUA buildings......on enquiry we found that there was to be a dominoes game around Norwich to start the N&N Festival  at 6pm! We put it on our schedule!

So back to exploring Norwich.......we walked along the river bank to visit the Cathedral.... this had been a Benedictine Priory... until it became Church of England in 1538.
passing by.......

The Cathedral was superb inside.......

The area around the cathedral was bucolic......

and the houses had a very British look!

....there were some great store front windows

......and a little graffiti......

We obviously had to be back  to watch what happened to the dominos at 6pm!

There were lots of other old interesting buildings......
The local department store Jarrold's has been there since 1823!
The Royal Arcade from 1899....
There were churches almost at every corner.....

.a few with a newer use......

But don't think of taking any of their land!

There is even a stork or two around the city.......

Then from old to new.... at the  University of East Anglia
... with a little art at the Sainsbury Center

We can recommend two great restaurants....
Blue Joanna at the edge of town and Benoli in the old center
And the Bicycle Shop was interesting for lunch!
