We were very fortunate to have a private tour of the Sydney Opera House arranged for us!
Going behind the scene is always interesting! All I knew prior to visiting was that the young architect who designed it had been fired and never actually saw it constructed! And that it is cooled by 35kms of piping of water from the harbour!
First off... there is a Le Corbusier painting originally commissioned for the Opera House but kept after the architect was fired... by him, understandably! Le Corbusier was His friend! It was bought by the Opera House eventually! For a price!
The architect, Utzon, only wanted natural materials....he was big into concrete and wood! Wood for the acoustics!
...with a wonderful view.......
It is an amazing building!

Had we opted for dinner with our opera we would have dined here......
.......the roof (sails!) are built with ceramic tile........
.....in cream and white.........otherwise it would have been too reflective!
I find it rather sad that Jorn Utzon never got to see his fabulous creation but at least got acknowledged before he died!It is an amazing building!
You are SO lucky to have this tour. The for sharing!
